献血血液等の研究開発等での有効利用について
献血いただいた血液には、有効期限切れや検査不合格などの理由で輸血や血液製剤の原料として使用できないものが発生します。
これらの血液を研究開発等に有効利用することで、輸血や献血の有効性・安全性の向上、血液の検査法の向上のほかに、病気の診断や治療法の開発が促進され、国民の健康状態の改善などにも役立つ可能性があります。
日本赤十字社および一般公募された研究機関等では、献血いただいた血液を有効利用しています。
研究等で献血血液の使用を希望される方（申請者向け）
これまで、献血血液等の研究開発等への使用については、「献血血液等の研究開発等への使用に関する指針（平成24年８月１日付薬食発0801第２号）（平成29年８月一部改正）」（以下「指針」という。）に基づき実施していたところですが、「「安全な血液製剤の安定供給の確保等に関する法律第12条に規定する採血等の制限の考え方について」の一部改正について」（令和２年８月26日付薬生血発0826第３号厚生労働省医薬・生活衛生局血液対策課長通知）によって、同指針が廃止されたところです。
日本赤十字社では献血者の善意により得られた血液の有効利用等を鑑み、引き続き献血血液の研究開発等への使用に関する公募を実施しております。血液の提供を希望される場合には、日本赤十字社へ申請ください。
令和８年度使用分の申請につきましては、「令和８年度使用分の申請について」をご覧ください。
なお、令和８年度使用分の申請については、公募期間（公募期間：令和７年11月12日～令和８年１月９日）にて受付しており、既に締め切らせていただいております。令和９年度使用分の申請受付につきましては、詳細が決まりましたらホームページにてお知らせいたします。

献血血液を使用する研究について
輸血等に使用できない献血血液の一部は、「血液製剤の有効性・安全性の向上および検査法の向上を目的とした研究」または、「病気の診断・治療や国民の健康状態の改善を目的とした研究」に使用されます。これらの研究については、献血いただく方に対して、内容の公開が必要なことから、以下に公開しております。

献血時に全ての献血者に対して、献血いただいた血液を研究開発等に有効利用する可能性があることについて、「献血の同意説明書」および「添付資料」を使用してご説明しております。
この内容に同意いただけない場合には、その血液を研究開発等へ使用しておりません。
