Finnish Red Cross Specialized ERU Technical Training

Specialized ERU Technical training prepares delegates for the future mission as a camp or hospital technician and provides a wide picture of relevant duties. In a medical ERU, the technical duties are very versatile. Specialized ERU Technical training consists of a wide array of topics and is divided into separate modules:

1. Waste management, heating, cooling and selected medical equipment
2. Water treatment and storage, Avant multipurpose tractor, generators and electrical network

These modular trainings are hosted in alternate years. Together with ERU Induction training, either one of the modular trainings qualifies delegates to be deployed as a hospital or camp technician. All technical delegates are expected to complete both of these modular trainings to be able to handle the full range of tasks of technical delegates.

In 2022, the Specialized ERU Technical training consists of the first module Waste management, heating, cooling and selected medical equipment.

Pandemic Precautions
We will continuously assess the pandemic situation and follow the instructions given by authorities. Based on the current forecast, we expect that training can take place face-to-face in August. It is worth noting that the participants will be in close contact (within 1,5-meter distance) with each other during the training, for example in accommodation and possibly in transportation to the training venue, as physical distances cannot be guaranteed during the training. Surgical face masks and hand sanitizer will be available during the training.

Please note the possibility that the training might have to be cancelled or postponed. The participants will be informed immediately should the training be cancelled/postponed. All participants are advised to ensure that the travel tickets they have are flexible and allow cancellations.
