Donation Period Extended

2012/03/02

Japanese Red Cross has decided to extend the donation period until the September 30th, 2012. All the cash contributions go to the affected people of 3.11 earthquake and tsunami as a cash grant programme. (The Japanese Red Cross Society does not take any administrative fees from the funds.)

This programme started on Mach 14, 2011 and it was initially planned that the Japanese Red Cross received the funds until the September 30, 2011. However, the donation period was extended for half a year in September 2011, and now, another six month long extension was decided.

Even a year after the earthquake, there are 4,000 to 5,000 donation cases per week which amounted to approximately 400 to 500 million yen.

We appreciate your continued support and will keep working with survivors to encourage faster recovery of affected regions.

*Note* This fund is different from the donations coming through the red cross and red crescent societies around the world; donations from sister societies are utilized for the Japanese Red Cross recovery efforts. There are three different ways to support survivors. Please see here for other ways.
