44th of the Florence Nightingale Medal
Just today, 12th of May, the Commission for the Florence Nightingale Medal announced the people who had been selected for the 44th of the Florence Nightingale Medal. This year, thirty-two persons have been selected for the medal, and within, there were two Japanese, Mrs. Aiko Kin and Mrs. Setsuko Hisatsune. They were both recognized in the areas of public health, nursing education and their action during the disaster situation.
The Florence Nightingale Medal is the highest international distinction a nurse can receive and is given once in two years. It is to recognize those who put devotion of the exemplary services or who showed creative and pioneering spirit in the areas of public health or nursing education.
