Annual Meeting 2013
The Japanese Red Cross Society (JRCS) held the Annual Meeting on World Red Cross Red Crescent Day, May 8, at Meiji Jingu Shrine in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, in the presence of Honorary President Her Imperial Majesty Empress Michiko, Honorary Vice-Presidents Her Royal Highness Princess Akishino, and HRH Princess Hitachi.
There were 1,573 participants, including the JRCS staff members and representatives of the JRCS volunteers nationwide. This meeting is held annually in order to show appreciation to those who work on JRCS operations on a daily bases, to confer honorary awards upon individuals and corporations who have made great contributions to JRCS activities.
This year, forty-nine individuals and one hundred seven corporations were selected as award recipients. Honorary awards were conferred upon thirteen representatives by HIM Empress. In addition, president awards were bestowed upon two organizations; the Hotel Okura Tokyo for their great contribution as donors over the years and the Kyoto Red Cross Youth Volunteers for providing strong leadership in HIV/AIDS prevention and education programs.
