Junior Red Cross

The Junior Red Cross has been promoted since 1922 for the purpose of bringing up young people based on humanitarian values who can contribute to future peace and people’s welfare through participating in the Red Cross Movement. It is also organised in school education targeting students from the ages of 418 years, or from kindergarten children to high-school students. As of 31 March 2008, more than 11,432 schools, equivalent to 24% of all the schools in the country, were actively participating in the Junior Red Cross, with about 2.4 million members and the support of approximately 110,000 teacher-sponsors. Their activities are divided into the following three categories:

●Learning how to prevent accidents
●Blood donation and donor recruitment

2.Voluntary services
